Glass in Larder unit using Sketchup/Articad Empty Glass in Larder unit using Sketchup/Articad

Thu Jan 18, 2018 12:03 pm
Hi all,

I created this larder unit in sketchup and imported into Articad. I applied 3 colours - white for the actual unit, black to create a frame trim (as im not sure how else to do this yet) and pink for the glass which I would change to the correct material in articad once imported. However, as you can see from the pics, the pink doesnt show up when I import into Articad and there is not a pink colour to select from to change the materials in articad. Its obviously something to do with the way i've built the model in sketchup. Can anyone advise/help please?

Daz, I'll send it over thanks. Whilst you are looking at it, i wonder if there is way I can create the cock bead detail which i've currently just mimicked the frame using a black line........this is based on the Tetbury Burbidge profile (as this is closest to the handmade kitchens we do) Joe - no it doesn't allow me to select it in VR mode Sad

Daz, this is spot on. I've struggled with this in the past and I didnt even think about being able to create it with 2 different doors and a filler. Huge thanks for helping me out and putting that video together! Hopefully it will help others too Very Happy

Nice work Daz, unfortunately or thankfully depending how you look at it Articad relies on sketchup for a lot of what i do. Sometimes it can be quicker just to make something rather than mess about in articad. I also use the air trick for hiding shelves so i can get the cornice to overhang correctly at the front of the units!!! When will they fix this?

True, not always possible in any of the kitchen, bedroom and bathroom software to have every option and be able to model in them directly.
The option to import geometry is good and I would always do this as a last resort.

Not sure about the cornice issue but my only thought to speed up planning is to have a flyover shelf with an increased depth, zero it's height, turn off dimension and label, turn off the cornice in the wall unit, and group it and save it to favourites...and create all the widths you are likely to use etc...
