Beta Testing Required
Tue Jun 05, 2018 4:10 pm
Hello Members
I have been working on the Sheen Calculator on and off for a while now and today just created a version for Testing.
The automation for copying values to ArtiCAD is currently only setup for V20 but you can use the copy/paste Crtl+C/Crtl+V to enter values into your material editor settings.
There will be bugs but nothing serious should happen.
The GUI is always on top of other programs but you can minimise it to the taskbar or obviously close the program.
It is very compact 1 x exe, 2 x *.ini file one for the program defaults and the other is the sheen store. Just over a 1MB installed.
The installer defaults to C:\Program Files\PREMS Calculator. An uninstaller removes registry files, the exe and program defaults.ini but leaves the Sheen Store and folder intact.
Please PM me if you would like to test it out....
Still a lot to develop with it like the sheen preview, automatically selecting known sheen's in the dropdown but the basic calculations work well.
Known Bugs/Issues:
1. Sheen Preview - work in progress
2. Saving user sheen values sometimes does not work
3. Help file or Settings user system (buttons) - work in progress
4. Automation on some of the material dialogs (due to name differences of the dialogs) don't work yet.
Thanks
Daz

I really like it. Intuitive to use and removes the massive, time consuming pain that is material editing. It's great that you can add your own defaults ( I can feel tinkering coming on!) but those already installed by Daz are more than enough for most situations. Although sketchup files need to be configured manually, it's a breeze as it's always on top for easy referencing. You might want to roll back to V20!

Working fine on v20 for me Daz, even in v21 just copy and paste is easy and above all it gives us good references to work with! If you can get it working for v21 it will be the best feature!!

Yes V21 wording would be great, im getting use to translating but if you could select which version you was using and it just changed the names down the side to match V21 / V20 it would be a good feature.

Hi Daz, I was playing around with your calculator and the settings for glass didn't work for me.
The glass vase on the left is from the default pre defined list of glossy glass on Articad and the other two on the right is from the calculator.
I have changed the transparency values on it and it still made no difference, not sure what I'm doing wrong with it. I can never get glass to look right when I try to add a colour to vases, light shades etc.[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Yeah Dave the Glass entry is there just for the Fresnel, reflection and glossiness settings. I have not included any transparency option as yet in the calculator so just pick the predefined glass first the run/ender the values...
Impressive render by the way!

Have you managed to have a play around with v21 Daz?
Not sure if it's just my setup or not, but I'm finding the default "finishes" aren't as realistic as I had expected - I know they can be edited in default material library file instead of having to add in custom finishes, but I need something to go off as to how to get them looking better. Any ideas?

Hi Michael,
No, not had chance really yet to get rid of the Fresnel tickbox and decimal place correction bug as yet.... Are we up to ArtiCAD Build 23 now?

Yes, been on Build 23 for over a week now, it does seem a lot less buggy than before, although certain things are still annoying like plinth, cornice and pelmet not working properly and the Edit Default Materials Selection box randomly re-sizing every time you open it, so the preview box doesn't work properly, but at least the catalog textures are accessible from the Libraries now!
