Thanks Dave...
Rendering some more views... the details can make a big difference for realism...

Another view.... The customers Central Heating boiler is in a horrid position and that's why the wall unit to the left hand side of the hob/extractor is deeper...

Great Daz. Looks like you have done this job once or twice before?
I am glad I'm not the only one who that gets cursed with void corners!

Its not going to be a void corner as it will be a blind corner with a lemans corner below and then oven in an elevated midi housing sitting on top of it.....

So I'm still the only one in the void corner club!

HOW IS THIS A RENDER!!!???? Unreal Daz, this must have taken hours!? hope the client appreciates all your work! Can i also ask what oak textures you used and settings?

Thanks Jayne....
Some appreciate the work yes, for this one having used us a while ago I do stand a good chance of getting the job.
I used some old textures I had and tweaked the colours. One thing we often find is wood texture have to much red saturation so I reduced them. The bump maps also I made using the same texture but used "Threshold" in Photoplus to make a black and white image then blurred it slightly. High contrast black and white images work best in RedSDK...
The worktop one I used, again, an old worktop block texture but made it seamless in Serif Page Plus...
I will drop box them including the bump maps..
I have been playing a bit more with this job and gone back to using Gamma 2.2 to get a more balanced and colourful render to how our eyes see light after getting a bit of constructive criticism on the TurboCAD forum... :

Sold it!
Was not really expecting it to be that easy!.... just goes to show sometimes the extra effort can pay off... Like everything I chose for them and even the wall colour!
I did redo the stools by the way as the downloaded model are too tall lol... no leg room...

Top work Daz as usual. Still on Turbocad? How long to design and render? As soon as i'm as quick on blender as i am on articad i think i will be switching full time. Blender way better.

Yeah, still using TC. I have invested a lot of time in the software creating my own catalogues and material settings and being a beta tester for it I have a small input in what they include and make suggestions to improve it and report bugs etc.
I have a mental block on even looking at installing Blender as I hated the UI when I played with it many years ago and it looks no more appealing to me now.
Time it takes, yes this a factor.
This one, the design was about an hour then the modelling was probably 1 day for the items I mentioned.
Actual planning probably is about the same as planning in ArtiCAD and some things like changing doors, handles and appliances etc is faster as I do not have to wait for catalogues to load as I just drag and drop in the items.

Ha Ha i know what you mean about the UI, i was the same but decided to really give it a go for a couple of weeks. Now it's fine plus i'm not modelling much with it as i can do any modelling in my other software and bring it in. Even scary HQ models load in seconds! So it's mostly drag and drop. It's the control of the textures, lighting, camera and render settings that's got me hooked.

I've done a few bits and bobs in a Blender. The materials and are just too much easier to tweak and have a live preview is a huge plus as opposed to closing windows and hitting render. the problem is its not a CAD program where you can create cabinets easily but you can import plans from Articad and Compusoft and dress and render in Blender. I have created a few images for marketing - not a whole kitchen.... yet. I'd suggest if you are looking to start playing with Blender, Download Blender 2.8 It has a more refined UI despite it being in Beta at the moment.
And best of all - It's Free!

I am trying to get away from using multiple programs for my designing as this leads to many problems. I need the software to work for this industry like supplying detailed CAD drawings and if I can do this on one piece of software then this is my preference.
In TC we can also view materials well in the render manager and use either the full drawing or a simple graphic as shown below. This can be rendered using the full GI/Raytrace modes and not a crappy lacklustre preview that ArtiCAD have decided is good enough for customers...

Wish our trade guys gave us this much info Daz, can't go wrong there!
Also, looks like a kessebohmer carousel, we used to get our Le-mans from PWS, but LDL do the kessebohmer too but under the name Fluid II which we've managed to get at a better price

Thanks Luke,
Trouble is they do, even making a video and well as drawings some manufacturers just do there own thing or a week before the job is going out start to tell me they cannot do it....
I have found SC Cabinets (from the ads at the back of KBB Review Mag) appreciate my efforts to put these drawings together as well as cutting lists.
Great that they pack everything in cardboard for handling and protection. Its not rocket science is it LOL...
