I hardly ever change the field of view as the default is pretty much correct for the majority of rooms... It is the cut line I use a lot in small rooms through of graphics that I use mostly...
Sometime it's best to setup your camera in VR mode and use the mouse and arrow keys to move around etc..

Thanks for the reply. The reason I ask is, I have just got off the phone with Articad to find out why I get blotchy looking renders and he told me it can be down to the camera angle.

Can you post an example render and the drawing file (zipped up) if possible?

Lol...why Articad isn’t set up with the best materials baffles me!..I’m going to do their heads in on training day! The first question I’m gonna fire at them is why are sinks and hobs set at 910mm high so they hover above the worktops.

It probably is the default point light halfway into the ceiling.
Try lowering it or zero its percentage in the light properties.

Yep, lowering the light seems to of worked. I'm still not getting the results i want, i don't want to be perfect but a consistent render would be nice from plan to plan. I am still trying to get near the render Articad did for us, but i am miles off! (Image attached) any tips, tricks to get me going??????

Do you adjust the gamma and exposure before finalising the render as this will lift it out of darkness and give it some "pop"
As per the attached:

Yea, i always adjust the exposure and gamma at the end. I don't seem to get the sharp results that I have seen on here or like the render Articad did for me.

What render settings are you using?
Have you tried working with a lit appearance view on the window?

Is it the portal you change to lit appearance?

No, add a view to the opening (this is in front of the portal)

One other thing I am struggling with is the floor. I am currently doing a design where they will be keeping their existing polished limestone floor but when I try and replicate this in my design it renders very dull. I have the setting at high gloss but it doesn’t seem to work. Any quick way of resolving this ? (Image below)

Regarding the blotches, I had a similar problem and asked Articad about it - they told me to make sure the camera was always inside the room otherwise the light from outside will interfere with the images and do strange things, so I assume that's what they are talking about when they mention camera angles.

I doubt it's anything to do with the camera as exposing the view to the exterior and cutting through walls usually causes the Tone Mapping to incorrectly adjust to the White exterior and the black wall core.

If anyone can attach an example I would love to find out what is going on. This is not the "Broken Portal" syndrome that has been banded about mostly on the KFF Forum... That bug is nothing really to do with ArtiCAD's programming but the RedSDK Render engine code.

Looking closely at Jame's example the lighting looks weird (See below where I have put lines shadows etc..
I have tried to replicate the problem but not been successful...Camera angles Artica27
