Changing widths of styles and rails
Mon Apr 16, 2018 9:10 am
I have a client who wants me to design a kitchen similar to a design she seen on Houzz.
The doors are stainless steel including a fabricated canopy with ribbed glass installed in the frames.
30mm will be the rail size with 60mm for the style, does anyone know if this is possible to do in Articad?
For the canopy i could use a wedge and change it to stainless steel, ribbed glass not sure if this is possible.

There are a few ways you could create the doors... Cubic Boxes, Separate fascias...
One Method.
1. A wall unit 1000 wide change the door material/s to air (this is for handles and the unit)
2. pick the door only graphic and force on the in-frame option (change to frame type to 60mm wide stiles and 30 rails with the modern style)
3. Customise the door, remove the door and insert a filler (change the material of the Door to glass and the Cubic box to air)
See attached quick render and *.kit file example:

Daz, I have seen a few posts about adding a door. Where do you find just a door fascia in ArtiCAD? Being an idiot when showing an open door I use a whole unit then turn the carcase to glass (don't laugh). It does work (ish) but a bit long-winded.
Cheers

And I thought I was the only plonker on here!
At the KBB show on the ArtiCAD stand, I was asked what training I'd had. I said " I was one of Daz's disciples" and the chap said pretty good then!

As ArtiCAD's online manual is circa 2007 v14, it's shocking that their customers are left on their own to tease the functionality of their software on a forum such as this. It's mind bogglingly stupid that you are reliant on customers to explain your product to other customers...thank God for Daz.

Looks Superb David!
It looks like the cubic box material needs tweaking....
Check your settings for the cubic box in the doors... The box is there so we can move the door graphic... Yes you could change the door thickness to zero but we cannot grab it easily..
For an air material (Completely transparent although can cause Z fighting is certain situations):
1. Completely White Colour 255 RGB
2. Select the matt preset. this usually defaults some of the following:
3. Diffuse to zero.
4. IOR of 1, Fresnel ticked
5. Zero Reflection
6. Transparency of 1
7. Set to let light through.
Hopefully that helps with this problem...

Dave, unfortunately unlike a lot of cad software there is virtually nothing on youtube for articad. Most videos from them you need to pay for support to access the members section or pay for training! Maybe their own forum that is coming will address this!

I've never looked online for Articad, but it is the same for Autokitchen that you can find a couple of naff videos as old as me that you already know anyway Look forward to more Autokicheners (made up word) joining on hereJoe wrote:Dave, unfortunately unlike a lot of cad software there is virtually nothing on youtube for articad. Its hard to imagine that Joe.
I reckon there are two types of users for Articad, ones that are happy to be able to do a basic design and no ambition to progress which will probably be suited to the forum that Articad are launching.
The other are serious users like us who want to continually learn and enhance their designs and will use this forum for the skill set that is abundantly shown here.

Looking very nice David.... Worktops look very thin... What is the material?
on a Practical note, the fridge Freezer... how does it vent as it looks like it's all filled in around the appliance?

Thanks guys.
20mm Silestone Lusso Daz, the client has an existing fridge that she wants to keep until she needs to replace it which is why I used temporary fillers. I only got the dimension size from the client, I normally get the model number when i call to measure and use the recommended clearance for ventilation.
